My little baby sister is getting married!

Its crazy…I remember her falling asleep in a dresser drawer that she had just emptied of its contents. And now, she’s all grown up and in love. I’ll admit, I was a bit worried when I found out she was serious with “some guy” and would probably get engaged soon…I had never met him and hoped he was right for her. Well, I met him (after they got engaged) and thought he was perfect for her! Tyler is a great guy and I know they will be happy.

So, of course, I offered my photography services and last Thursday we went out to get some engagement shots. We were trying to beat the rain, but it stopped about 2 minutes before we started! I guess it was meant to be. Well, here they are:

Today I went out with Tatti and Chad to get some fun urban shots. Check out this awesome wall!

Now’s a good time to mention the basic retouching included with all your images photography prints. Here’s an example of what the original image looks like:

While that looks pretty darn good (if i do say so myself) and its an example of what would be included on your digital negatives CD (that you can print yourself) any images you order from us will be given a basic retouch for free!! Now here’s the enhanced version:

See the difference! We think its pretty great.

Ashley + Nate = Take Two!

This morning we went out to a field with a couch…that’s right, a couch. Any more explaination would make us all seem crazy so I’ll just let you check out the amazing images.

Look at her eyes! I just think they’re amazing!

Towards the end of the session we wanted to move the truck further down the field. So we hopped on the couch in the back of the truck. Kind of like a white-trash hey ride…but oh so fun…

…and so worth the “life-threatening” experience…

Here’s their slideshow:

I am so honored to be photographing my cousin-in-law Shauna and her sweetheart Brandon. They are so obiously in love! On Saturday, we went to Pineview to photograph their engagements. Brandon’s parents live almost on the lake (how lucky!)… so Brandon knew how to get to some really great spots…Enjoy!

That last one is one of my favorites!

Check out their slideshow here.

WARNING: not all monitors are created equal! images will look different (too dark, too light, too red, etc.) depending on the monitor you are using. When you order an image from images photography it will be professionally color corrected, fully retouched, and printed on calibrated printers to ensure the best image possible.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to hang out with Becky and Anthony…while taking some engagement shots. These two are fabulously good looking! But, they are also super intelligent (both going into medical professions) and completely down to earth. Here are some of my favorite shots:

The Five Love Languages

February 7, 2007

You said “I DO” now what?

Most brides spend hours on end focusing on the details of the wedding day: the dress, the location, the flowers, cake, invitations, etc. But one thing brides should consider most important is building a lasting relationship with their sweetheart. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I’d discuss Love!

Here’s a great book I recommend: The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment To Your Mate by Gary Chapman. I am not one that likes reading books that are along the self help line, but I have to say that this book changed my whole outlook on relationships.

The author talks about the importance of expressing love in a “language” that your spouse understands. There are five primary love languages, and while all of them are important, you need to speak and understand your spouse’s specific love language in order for them to feel loved.

The languages are as follows:

  • Word of Affirmation - Verbal appreciation, compliments, encouragement, support.
  • Quality Time - Spending focused, quality time having conversations, doing activities together.
  • Receiving Gifts - Visual symbols of love where gifts are seen as an expression of love and devotion.
  • Acts of Service - Chores done out of love, not obligation.
  • Physical Touch - Physical contact (sexual, hugs, kisses, etc.)

I love how this book says that love is not a magical thing, it is a choice. You choose to love someone, you also choose to show that love. But this book actually really brought perspective in my other relationships with people, and made me realize that I wasn’t speaking the primary love language of some friends. While I was reading I was thinking in my head: “Oh Sarah’s love language isn’t ‘receiving gifts’ but it’s ‘words of affirmation!’” or “Oh, all this time I was spending ‘quality time’ with my mother when she really feels loved by ‘acts of service.’”

What is your primary love language? What is your partner’s primary love language? Are you speaking each other’s love languages?
