seniors.

December 23, 2008

You’ve waited your whole life for this, your senior year. A new journey lies ahead of you, and there are so many choices to be made. We at images photography want to make this process as easy (and fun!) as possible for you, so that is why we’ve compiled a list of tips and information to help you prepare for your upcoming session with us.

And now, on to the tips!

GENERALLY SPEAKING
Please let us know if you want to show any tattoos that you may have. Because peeling skin does not look attractive in photos, please avoid over-sunning or sunburn.

Breakouts bringing you down? Do not worry about minor complexion problems. These can be fixed post-session. Heavy breakouts can also be retouched, but may require an additional retouching fee.

YOU - you are the only “You” in this world. Bring along items to the session that help define who you are; such as a guitar, soccer ball, hobbies, even a car. Remember, these images are about self-expression, who you are in this moment. Use your creativity!

LADIES
With pictures, small details do matter! Please have your nails trimmed and polished. Don’t forget your toes! As tempting as it might be, I do not recommend trying out any new hairstyles or coloring in the event you are not satisfied with the outcome; however a hair trim is a great idea. Feel free to bring along any hair accessories or hats you’d like.

As for makeup, slightly heavier makeup photographs well, but be sure not to over-due it. Pay extra attention to the eye makeup, avoiding clumps in the mascara. For shine, bring along translucent powder or blotting pads.

Now for clothing: for black and white images, wearing black is best. A black top and a favorite pair of jeans will offer up a nice contrast between your skin and clothing; this looks fabulous in black and white images. Clothes that flatter you are the way to go –-baggy clothes often times can make you look larger. Also, be aware of the right undergarments. White pants and flowered underwear do not mix! Go for something more natural colored instead.

Keep jewelry simple; we want the focus to be on you!

Lastly, bring your prom dress or favorite dress for some fun and artistic shots!

GENTLEMEN
Like suggested to the ladies, it is recommended that you do not try out any new hair styles right before your session, just in case you are not happy with how things turn out. Like hats? Great, but please do not wear the hat until it is time for the shot. We don’t want any red lines showing up on your forehead from the hat.

Bring something that will look good in black and white images, such as a pair of jeans and a black shirt, and also bring some clothing for color images – don’t be afraid of bold colors and patterns. Jackets, coats, ties, and other accessories are great to put on for a few shots too. Whatever makes you … YOU!

FOR PARENTS
Thank you for choosing images photography to capture this special moment in your teen’s life; their graduating year. How fast they grow! We at images photography know that you want only the best for your teen, and we look forward to providing them, and you, with a cherished memory. One that will last long after the diplomas have all been handed out; but will last a lifetime.

Parents are welcome to join us for the portrait session. Depending on your teen, I may ask that we be given some space. Often a child, whether of school age or teen-age, blossoms in front of the camera upon receiving space from their parents. This is their time, their moment, as their photographer I want them to be as comfortable as possible.

Depending on which package you have purchased, your senior’s session will last from an hour to three hours, and will include various clothing changes. I’ve included a list of tips for your teen to read, please feel free to go over this with them. From not trying out new hairstyles right before their session, to what looks best in black and white images, we believe these tips will help your teen be prepared and more at ease during the session.

Lastly, please encourage your senior to bring items that help define who they are; such as a guitar, soccer ball, hobbies, even a car. Bring a pet is okay too, however, please make sure there is someone there to take of the pet while they are being photographed without them.
